Unearth reveals new album track list & cover art

Melodic metallers
Unearth will release their fifth album "
Darkness In The Light" on July 5 via Metal Blade Records.
Commented vocalist Trevor Phipps "
Darkness In The Light is without a doubt some of the heaviest, most dynamic and memorable tunes we've ever written. The disc is littered with the shred 'n' stomp-filled songs our fans would expect from us, as well as some added vocal hooks, guitar melodies, guitar solos and some different paths taken in style and structure. We knew we had to continue to separate ourselves from the pack and to cement our place in the heavy metal world as one of the leaders and not as one of the many followers that seem to hop on the trend wagon and give up so easily when the going gets hard. We are here to stay and collectively we couldn't be any more fired up to play these songs around the world for our fans new and old."
The track listing for the CD is as follows :
01. Watch It Burn
02. Ruination Of The Lost
03. Shadows In The Light
04. Eyes Of Black (available for streaming at this
location)
05. Last Wish
06. Arise The War Cry
07. Equinox
08. Coming Of The Dark
09. The Fallen
10. Overcome
11. Disillusion

Iced Earth's Jon Schaffer comments on upcoming album
published on February 16, 2011 by Darren Cowan
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN (USA) –
Iced Earth leader Jon Schaffer, hard at work in his studio, promises the next
Iced Earth album will be “pretty fuckin’ heavy.”
“I can tell you from the riffs and the attitude behind it,” he said, “this is going to be a bad-ass record. This is inspired, focused, and to the point.”
The album – set for release later this year – will be
Iced Earth’s 10th studio outing, and the first since 2008’s The Crucible of Man. Unlike Crucible and Framing Armageddon (which was released in 2007), the new album won’t be a concept. Instead, Schaffer promises a return to the raw-and-heavy sound of
Iced Earth’s classic fan-favorite albums.
“This is really heavy stuff,” Schaffer said. “It’s a kick in the nuts.”
He added: “People probably think I don’t have it in me any more. But they’re going to be proved wrong about that. I can tell you this: we’re coming back with a vengeance. We’re out for blood.”
This promises to be a grand year for Schaffer and company. Not only will
Iced Earth release a new album (followed by a world tour – which management promises will take the band to countries it hasn’t previously played), but the band will also release its long-awaited 6-hour, three-concert live DVD this Spring titled Festivals of the Wicked.

(0) Unearth parts ways with Derek Kerswill
published on October 25, 2010 by Zandra
Unearth have announced on
myspace :
"After three plus years of touring the world together and playing on our latest album "The March", we have parted ways with drummer Derek Kerswill. The most notable reason for the split are the creative differences. The time has come for Unearth to write a new album and creating music with a tight unit is the only way we can assure the best collection of songs possible. The differences between Kerswill and the band started off as subtle, but became increasingly obvious over the past few months and it was time for both parties to go their separate ways.
We have shared a ton of great experiences and achieved many of the goals we set for ourselves in the time he was in the band. There is no ill will from either side of this decision and we wish him only the best moving forward.
Creative differences are real and unfortunately have gotten the best of me. I wish the guys luck in the future and thank you to everyone who ever loved + supported "The March"," Kerswill said.
Unearth won't skip a beat, though, as we will be announcing a replacement drummer for our upcoming European stint on the Persistence Tour shortly. Lastly some exciting plans are coming together for the recording to the follow up to "The March" sometime early in 2011.
Commented Derek Kerswill :
"Creative differences are real and unfortunately have gotten the best of me. I wish the guys luck in the future and thank you to everyone who ever loved and supported 'The March'."

(0) Drone pioneers Earth to reissue debut recordings
published on September 22, 2010 by Darren Cowan
We have been blessed with a massive offering from the gods! For the first time ever the debut recordings of drone purveyours EARTH are available in one concise, beautifully documented capsule. A Beaurocratic Desire For Extra Capsular Extraction contains the entire 1990 Smegma Studios sessions which are the debut recordings from EARTH.
Previously available scattered via the Extra Capsular Extractions EP and Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars CD, this essential collection contains every note from the infamous first EARTH recording sessions. All 7 tracks have been carefully remastered by Mell Dettmer. It is actually questionable what mastering if any was done on the original tracks so we entrusted the task into the very capable hands of Mell who has mastered all the other EARTH releases via Southern Lord. Bearing exclusive artwork by Simon Fowler and package design via Stephen O'Malley, the end result is a burly, mammoth and crushing audio experience that makes this collection a must have even for the diehards that own previous versions of these recordings.
EARTH was founded by Dylan Carlson circa 1989, and in its infant stages contained several different members including Slim Moon (Kill Rock Stars label), Joe Preston (Thrones,
Melvins, sunn 0))), High on Fire) and even Dylan's close friend Kurt Kobain. Unbeknownst to Mr. Carlson at the time was that his seemingly simplistic experimentation with heavy music would literally spawn an entire genre, style and sound borrowing from his musical theories. This collection of the very first recordings is an important insight into understanding the birth of this sound; a foreshadowing of the thunder to come.
A Bureaucratic Desire for Extra Capsular Extraction Track Listing:
1. A Bureaucratic Desire for Revenge, part 1 7:22
2. A Bureaucratic Desire for Revenge, part 2 6:38
3. Ouroboros Is Broken 18:19
4. Geometry of Murder 7:22
5. German Dental Work 5:20
6. Divine and Bright 3:02
7. Dissolution 1 7:11
