The saga from conflictual relationships between Black Sabbath and their drummer Bill Ward will for sure know a lot new episodes. After Black Sabbath indicated "we have no choice but to continue recording without him..." it's Bill Ward's turn to talk to the fans :
"Dear Sabbath Fans,
This is Bill. I just wanted to humbly thank you all. Your support from across the world has given me further strength and hope for a positive resolve. I have been moved and overwhelmed by the thousands of messages. I love you all.
Insomnium official web site just announced that Ville Vänni, their guitarist, will soon resign from the Finnish band. After 10 years within the band, Ville says he doesn't have enough time anymore to juggle his career as a surgeon, his personal life (his wife will soon give birth to their first child), and Insomnium.
Vanhala (Omnium Gatherum) will replace Ville Vänni after a few last shows in Finland.
Here is the public message of Ville to the fans and the band :
Time is now ripe to share the news about line-up changes in the Insomnium camp. With a heavy heart I have reached the decision to resign from Insomnium. The decision is mutual and final, and there is no big drama behind it.
During the last year I have found myself in a limbo of constant lack of time and impossible schedules. Combining a general surgeon’s career with a busy metal band like Insomnium has already taken years of precise timing, and the candle has been burning from both ends for years now. At the same time, Insomnium has grown bigger demanding more and more time. As a result, I have gradually come to a painful realization that I can not meet the needs of this roller coaster ride any more.
This decision was hard to make and accept for all of us. Insomnium has been like a family and the band mates have been (and will still remain) my best and closest friends. For not being able to give my 100% would only be letting them down. The reason why this decision is made flesh right now is that I will not be able to attend the One For Sorrow European tour. My wife is due to give birth to our first son and it is my responsibility, duty and choice to be home at that time. I will play two first shows in Finland and then bid farewell.
However, the burden of this decision is lightened by the fact that Insomnium will go on and even grow stronger after my retirement. Markus Vanhala from Omnium Gatherum will take my place as a full-time guitarist in Insomnium. He is a good friend and an excellent musician and has already been replacing me and Ville F. on several occasions.
Thank you Niilo, Ville and Markus for a decade of good times and a lifetime of friendship and unforgettable memories. And thank you all Insomnium fans, it is you who made this all possible! See you on the coming shows!"
And here is the reply of the band :
"We all want to thank Ville for everything and totally support him with his decision. We've been together for ten years with this line-up and it has been a great ride. We've been a band of brothers, we've been a family. Nothing will ever change that.
This is the beginning of a new era for Insomnium. Sometimes a change is needed to keep the band going. Luckily we have got the best possible man to fill the vacancy, our good friend Markus Vanhala, who is best known as the songwriter and lead guitarist of Omnium Gatherum. Markus will naturally continue in Omnium Gatherum and unfortunately our tour schedules collide in November when OG is participating the Neckbreaker's Ball. As a result, we’ll have Tuomas Jäppinen as a second guitarist for the first seven evenings of the tour. Tuomas is also our old buddy and he is best known as the songwriter and lead guitarist of Enter My Silence. Tuomas is doing us a huge favour in delivering a killer show every night. So, make sure Tuomas feels welcomed when he hits the stage! Markus will join our ranks in München and play all the German shows on the tour.
Dear friends, do not take these news too heavily. Insomnium is not dying or withering away - we will be stronger than ever and we will keep touring and making new music. Give Ville Vänni the kind of farewell shows he deserves and come to see us perform in Joensuu on Nov 4th and Helsinki on Nov 5th. Then come and meet the new gang on the Euro Tour. See you soon!"
Helmuth Lehner, vocalist of Belphegor had an surgical operation on the beginning of october after their south american tour.
As he is now recovering from this difficult operation, all their previously announced shows until May 2012 are canceled.
Vocalist Nachtgarm (Negator) has joined the Swedish black metal band Dark Funeral.
Commented guitarist Lord Ahriman:
"I think I can speak for everyone in the band and say that besides completely knocking us down with the strength of his vocals and wide register, what truly blew us away was his presence, energy and the amazing spirit he showed during the final audition. He just came into the rehearsal room, found and took his rightful spot. And then just set the whole place on hellfire! It's really hard to explain 'that' certain feeling one is looking for, but once you get it, you just know that you've found the right man for the job. And that is something we all got 'deluxe.' No doubt about that!
Mankind has no idea what is coming upon them. And I can't wait to bring this maniac on tour for the world to experience DARK FUNERAL in the most intense and hellish way ever!
During the 10 month we have been looking for a new vocalist and drummer, we have received over 1000 applications. The interest to join DARK FUNERAL has been way over expectation and quite overwhelming to say the least. And we would like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE who applied for the jobs. One thing is for sure: There are a lot of unknown talents out there. And once they've found the right band to deliver their goods, I'm sure we all will hear from many of these guys in the future. Good luck!"
Guitarist Chaq Mol :
"When Emperor Magus Caligula quit the band, my first thought was, 'How the fuck will we be able to find a worthy replacement now?' In my eyes he was the best vocalist in the black metal scene. Anyhow, after we had listened through a couple of hundreds applicants, there were two guys that really stood out and sounded very promising indeed. The question now was, would they nail it on a live audition too, and would their personalities be of that kind we were looking for?! Well, after 10 month search we finally found the right man for the job! And all my previous doubts and concerns are now a memory forgotten. Nachtgarm, welcome to the horde!"
"To me, DARK FUNERAL is the epitome of black metal. To be a member of this institution now, is not only a big honor for me, but is also complementing my work as a lead singer as well as my action at the front of the stage throughout the years. Consequently, I am very glad that DARK FUNERAL put their unholy faith in me and my abilities. As the successor of Emperor Magus Caligula, I am quite aware of the high expectations being directed to my person. However, I can assure every one of you out there, that with every breath I take I will live up to these expectations. Hands down. This is the arrival of Satan’s Empire. Now let us set this world aflame!"
Municipal Waste have issued the following statement :
“It took a real long time to decide what we were going to do for our next record. We wanted to work with a label that were not only fans of the band and our music, but were willing to get behind any ridiculous idea that we could think of. Once we realized this, Nuclear Blast was the obvious choice. The Blast has been friends with the band long before doing a record was even a possibility. I feel like we’re starting off with a clean slate and decade of experience to start back up on the right track. Expect some great things in the near future from the WASTE. This is only the beginning!” -Foresta
"Nuclear Blast has shown their love for the WASTE for years. And when it came time for a new deal, it was a no brainer in my eyes. NB all the way. We are thrilled to be included among a roster of great bands and hard working people that love them. I can't wait to get into that studio!" -Witte
The band will be entering the studio this summer to record their fifth full-length album.
Century Media has issued the following statement :
"It is with great pleasure that Century Media announces the worldwide signing of Swedish progenitors, VILDHJARTA! One of the most respected bands in the scene today, VILDHJARTA mixes ambient, peaceful moments with brutal and dark music to create some of the most awe inspiring and unique musical output in modern metal.
Hyped since their early days, thanks to short demos that circulated the web amongst fans of groove metal, they have taken more than half a decade to musically advance to a point where their unexpected endeavors leave the listener in a state of blissful confusion. After years of courting, VILDHJARTA now joins forces with metal label giant Century Media and will be unleashing a new full length in the coming months. The band had this to say in regards to the singing:
To check out some previously recorded material, head over to here."
Sebas Bloeddorst, the guitarist and founding member of Heidevolk, has issued the following statement :
"After 9 years I have decided to leave the band Heidevolk. When I founded the band in 2002 I have done this to, as an artist, bring a message to the world, the proud pagan message of Heidevolk. Now I have noticed the time has slowly come for me to look to other things, and there for I have decided to focus myself more on Paganism and other musical projects I always wanted to work on but never had the time for.
The next CD will be my last with Heidevolk and I will leave the band in the fall of this year. Not without pain in my heart because with Heidevolk I have had some the best times of my life, which I will always remember.
I would like to thank my brothers of the band, all the fans, the crewmembers, and all organisers and contactpersons I worked with. Thank you all!! Heidevolk heerst Sebas Bloeddorst"
The band also added the following brief farewell: "We thank Sebas for the good times together, and wish him all the best in his future endeavours!"
Italian brutal/symphonic metallers Fleshgod Apocalypse have inked a worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Records.
Commented guitarist/vocalist Tommaso Riccardi : "We're really excited to start working with such a renowned and professional label. It's a great chance for the band to express itself in the best way, counting on this kind of support. For us it's like a brand new start. We surely can improve our work, touring much more and finally reaching every continent as we always wanted to do. Many tours are already planned or on the way to being organized. We'll start with North America and Europe and then Asia/Oceania, South Africa and maybe in Central/South America. We can't wait to hit US again this July-August with the ‘Summer Slaughter Tour’ 2011. It's an honor for us to be on this tour and a great opportunity to play live some new tunes! See you on the road!"

Vocalist Niklas Kvarforth of Shining has issued the following statement :
“Guitarist Fredric Gråby has left the ranks of Shining today because he no longer felt able to continue playing. Unfortunately, this means that we have been forced to cancel our appearance at the Ragnarok Festival this month as there is not enough time for a new guitarist to learn the material. We are also pleased to announce that Christian Larsson, who has been playing bass with the band for some time on a temporary basis, has now has joined Shining as a permanent full-time member."
The band's new album "VII / Född Förlorare" will be released on May 25.
Guitarist Richard Ebisch has issued the following statement :
"I am very grateful for having achieved so much with Legion Of The Damned, but after having played in bands for so many years and having toured numerous times, I decided to leave the band after careful deliberation. Because of health issues, it was no longer possible for me to continue at this pace.
I would like to say thank you to the fans and the Legion Of The Damned guys and wish them, and their new guitarist, all the best for the future."
: "We recently successfully ended Sweden Rock Cruise and have a lot of other great festivals planned ahead such as Graspop Metal Meeting, Nummirock in Finland, Metalcamp, Bang Your Head!!! and With Full Force. We didn't really notice anything or felt like this is going to end somewhere for Richard. During Kettersach Festival last weekend Richard announced that he would still do Paaspop this upcoming weekend, but call it an end after that. It will be a great lost for us, but we accept his decision, of course.
Even though this came out of blue for us, we have no intention on cancel any of the planned festivals. Who is going to replace Richard Ebisch is still a question unanswered, but hopefully we will have this answered as soon as possible as well. One thing is for sure: after Paaspop, Finnish metal fest Nummirock is next in line and we will be there stronger than ever!"
: "It's really sad that Richard decided to leave the band, but it's his decision to end his carrier as a musician and we have to accept it as it is. I am really happy to be part of the LEGION family, and shared the stage with Richard for five years. I have to thank him as well for all the fun and musical influences we shared. Richard is a great guitar player with an own style, and I wish him all the best with his future plans."
Guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams have announced their departure from Nevermore in this following statement :
“In a mutual decision Jeff Loomis and Van Williams have decided to leave Nevermore. The time has come to pursue our own paths from the group. Due to internal struggles and ongoing issues within the band, we feel it is our time to move on. We would like to thank all of our fans around the world for their years of love, support and enthusiasm. This was not an easy decision but a very necessary one at this point, may we all meet again someday, somewhere in time.”
British heavy metallers Judas Priest have issued the following statement :
"It is with regret that Judas Priest announce that K.K. Downing has formally retired from the band and will therefore not be joining them on their forthcoming Epitath Tour.
The band respect his decision and naturally all wish him well.
Having thought long and hard about how to proceed, Rob, Glenn, Ian and Scott uninimously agreed that they should go ahead with the tour and not let the fans down around the world.
Fate also stepped in and delivered the perfect replacement - 31 year old British guitarist Richie Faulkner - he has blended into the band perfectly and is a great talent who is going to set the stage on fire!
The Epitath tour will include songs from every Judas Priest album and also tracks they have never performed on stage, plus all the old favourites!
With a new album due to be released next year, the Metal Gods are preparing to tour the planet once more - Heavy metal at it's best with lasers, lights, bikes and hellfire! It's a show not to be missed!"
Keyboardist Per Wiberg has left the progressive metal band Opeth. Commented guitarist/vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt :
"Well, it's been somewhat of a revolving door of members during the last couple of years, and now Per is no longer a member. [Martin] Mendez [bass], Axe [Martin Axenrot, drums] and Fredrik [Åkesson, guitar] and I came to the decision that we should find a replacement for Per right after the recordings of the new album, and this came as no surprise to Per. He had, in turn, been thinking about leaving, so you could say it was a mutual decision. There's no bad blood, just a relationship that came to an end, and that's that. We wish Per the best, and he did a splendid job recording keyboards for the last record, which stands as his final recording with OPETH."
Chimaira keyboardist/programmer Chris Spicuzza has left the band :
"The choice was extremely tough and stewed around in my mind for quite awhile. Many things led to this decision. The situation in Chimaira had ultimately become a negative environment that I had to get out of. Secondly, the music industry is completely fucked and honestly, I became concerned for my future. The amount of work and stress I took on got the best of me. I guess if you're not happy or having fun, what's the point?:
As far as the new Chimaira album, I have not contributed to it. There is no doubt in my mind that CHIMAIRA's sound will not suffer minus my presence. The demos I heard showed great potential and I’m sure the album will melt faces. I'm proud to say I was on five Chimaira albums and wish those guys the best."
Chris "Zeuss" Harris (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Murderdolls, 3 Inches Of Blood) will mix the band's new album, which will be released in August.
Pirate metallers Swashbuckle have announced the addition of drummer Legendary Pirate King Eric The Brown to the group's rank. He will permanently replace Bootsmann Collins.

Brown of notable DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY / INFERI / VALE OF PNATH / COLLAPSE / MAGIC HAMMER / RAINBOWDRAGONEYES FAME. It is with heavy hearts that we part ways with Bootsmann Collins, but alas his dream of becoming a dancer for The Underwater Rockettes has finally become a reality. Goodnight sweet prince, good morrow Legendary Pirate King!
L.P.K. Eric is ready to smash faces and will join us for the first time on stage this spring/summer for our run of European festival shows."

Borknagar has inked a three-album deal with Century Media Records. The band's next record will be released in 2012.
Øystein G. Brun comments:
“Well, sometimes life takes slightly unexpected yet great turns! Due to internal business affairs the deal with Indie recordings was mutually terminated by both parties in January 2011. Since then we have been negotiating a possible re-signing with CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS. While you are reading this, Jens F. Ryland and I are at the headquarters of CMR in Dortmund to ink a new deal with our old partners in crime. If feels very good to be back in the fold of the mighty Century family- there is simply no team- no label alike. Thanks to Jens Preuter (head A&R) we have worked out and landed a deal that we are 110% sure will serve the future endeavors of BORKNAGAR in the best possible and most potent way. We share so much history with CMR and we are now preparing to create more musical history for the future to come- together with our friends at the Century family!“
Commented Jens Preuter of Century Media : “We are very proud to welcome back such a great and highly influential band. Whether you want to call it Black-, Progressive-, Viking-, Folk- or whatever Metal, Borknagar always managed to be just themselves on a unique and high level. I already heard some pre-production demos from the upcoming album and I can tell you it will be not just another masterpiece, but probably the best material they’ve done so far. In case you live near by Dortmund, Germany, you can come by the Die Burg bar on Thursday, March 29 evening and party with Øystein G. Brun, Jens F. Ryland and the Century Media crew."

Guitarist Adam Zaars has announced his departure from the band Enforcer :
"After 5 years, 2 albums and almost 200 gigs in the band I have decided to tread new paths in life hence leaving Enforcer behind. I made this decision in January and told the band in China, on the way home from a truly memorable visit in South Korea and Japan. A good ending I figured. The decision was inevitable, yet of course a difficult one to make. I would like to thank the rest of the guys in the band for everything we've been through, the trials and the tribulations and the simply good times. I would also like to thank all the people that have helped us through the years. I want to wish Enforcer all the best for the future! 'Before the rise of the World, old curses speak to you now. Before I leave to reach the spiral I will leave you my legacy.'"
Commented the band on the upcoming shows :
"All shows and tours will however continue as planned. Even though it is a great loss for the band we must emphasize that this will not affect our future plans of world domination even perceptibly. The band will continue, head on without speed limit as planned without any change of style, musically or stylewise. From now on, Enforcer will continue as a four piece band where Olof will play both guitar and handle the vocal duties. Enforcer would also like to thank Adam for his time in the band and for all his contributions that made Enforcer what we are."
