Allegaeon premieres new video "Biomech"

published on April 12, 2011 by Zandra
"Biomech", the new video of Allegaeon can be viewed at bloody-disgusting.com.
Commented singer Ezra Haynes : "The song Biomech was influenced by a Coloradoan girl who at a young age was diagnosed with optic nerve hypoplasia, or ONH, a condition where optic nerves don’t develop properly in the womb. As a result of that and facing total blindness, she needed to find treatment and that’s where stem cell research comes in. Stem cell research being the highly controversial subject that it is in United States led her to seek treatment in China funded by fundraisers held in Colorado. By using stem cell research Chinese scientists were able to grow the optic nerve needed for her vision.

The approach taken in writing the lyrics to Biomech is putting yourself in the shoes of the struggle, not being able to find treatment for your illness due to someone else’s beliefs. Ultimately the naysayer ends up with an illness in which a stem cell procedure is their only hope.

Kittie to enter studio next week

published on April 11, 2011 by Zandra
Kittie will enter the Beach Road Studios in Goderich Ontario, Canada, to begin recording their new album. Commented frontwoman Morgan Lander :

"We have been working exceptionally hard these cold winter months, crafting what is to be our 6th full length release, and our second for eOne. In some cases these new songs are faster, darker and much more sinister than our previous release. It contains some of the most difficult and personal subject matter I have had the pleasure (or displeasure) of writing."

The album will once again be produced by Siegfried "Siggy" Meier : "The girls have written some incredible and personal songs this time around. They're heavy as shit and relentless. It's a pleasure and an honor to be doing another record with one of the best metal bands of our time."

Slipknot members remember Paul Gray

published on April 11, 2011 by Zandra
Slipknot members Shawn "Clown" Crahan and Joey Jordison have released separated statements commemorating Paul Gray, who has died in May 2010. He'd have been 39 today.

Hey everybody, it’s Clown, I wanted to say that today is a very special and beautiful day. I wanted everyone to know that I am the type of person that would not commemorate a day that someone close to me passed away, but I am the type of person that celebrates the day that they were born. Today is the day that Paul Dedrick Gray was born which makes it a very, very, very special day for me and all of us who miss and love him and think about him every day. Paul, I love you and I miss you. Your friend and brother forever,
Clown

Today is a day that will have a special place in my heart forever. It’s a special day for all, for not only me and the guys in our band and families, but for everyone to put smiles across their faces and to celebrate the emotion and beauty of one of the greatest souls to ever grace music and humanity. I spent all of last night watching our videos since our days as little kids who had a dream and fuck, Paul we did make that dream come true. I fell asleep last night only to wake up minutes ago with a smile on my face as my slumbers were filled with memories I’d long forgot. Even as I write this my eyes are getting a little watery. He loves all of you who embraced his music. God bless to Brenna, October and all his friends and family as well. I wish that all of you that couldn’t share time with Paul will by playing his records ‘til your ceilings crack and your ears bleed and by celebrating his memory in the glory that it is. I love you Paul and I’ll see you again soon, but not yet…not yet. Hail Paul, hail Slipknot. Your friend,
Joey

Vader posts first studio report online

published on April 8, 2011 by Zandra
Polish extreme metallers Vader have entered the Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland to begin recording their new album "Welcome To The Morbid Reich". A first video report can be viewed below.

Commented drummer Paweł "Paul" Jaroszewicz : “We started our session showing up in the studio on March 14th, at 9 p.m. after a few hours' drive on our perfect Polish roads with a trailer full of gear - I really recommend it! This day we only managed to do the load-in and hit the sack - as we were dead on our feet. The real session started the next day with setting up the drums, changing the skins, placing microphones and tuning the drums. Then… we were adjusting the sound looking for ‘this is it’ in each element of the set. It lasted for the whole day and a half but it was definitely worth it. The sound of the drums just kicks asses! For the next few days the schedule of work was practically the same - breakfast, setting the recording plan for the day, preparing a pilot for the drums, recording, monitoring plus corrections if needed, recording, supper and going to bed . . . For 7 days, we recorded 9 new songs, 2 covers and a re-make of veeeeeery old VADER track. The results of our work will be available probably in August. For now, look forward to the studio reports and the pictures from the further recording of WTTMR.
Quite recently I've also become the official endorser of Paiste's cymbals. These are definitely the best sounding cymbals on the market and they were my wildest dream since I started to play the drums. I'm proud that now I can join the Paiste family. Of course you will hear them on the newest VADER album."

Cauldron releases "All Or Nothing" video

published on April 6, 2011 by Zandra
"All Or Nothing", the new video from Canadian metallers Cauldron can be viewed below. The track comes off the band's latest album "Burning Fortune", which was released on February 15 in North America via Earache Records.

Commented Jason Decay: "The video is basically a concentrated day, or a final straw in the life of Cauldron. We based the concept around the lyrics of the song, which is a bit of an ongoing theme with 'Burning Fortune'. We went for a bit of an edgy type of music video rather than the same old thing 'cause we figured we wouldn't get played on TV anyway. It was directed by Kevin MacAllister who normally does videos for Lush Cosmetics. We got hooked up through a friend who used to work there and just went for it. Ian's scene is actually shot at the Lush factory in Toronto..."

Keyboardist Per Wiberg quits Opeth

published on April 6, 2011 by Zandra
Keyboardist Per Wiberg has left the progressive metal band Opeth. Commented guitarist/vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt :

"Well, it's been somewhat of a revolving door of members during the last couple of years, and now Per is no longer a member. [Martin] Mendez [bass], Axe [Martin Axenrot, drums] and Fredrik [Åkesson, guitar] and I came to the decision that we should find a replacement for Per right after the recordings of the new album, and this came as no surprise to Per. He had, in turn, been thinking about leaving, so you could say it was a mutual decision. There's no bad blood, just a relationship that came to an end, and that's that. We wish Per the best, and he did a splendid job recording keyboards for the last record, which stands as his final recording with OPETH."
