Guitarist K.K Downing quits Judas Priest

published on April 20, 2011 by Zandra
British heavy metallers Judas Priest have issued the following statement :

"It is with regret that Judas Priest announce that K.K. Downing has formally retired from the band and will therefore not be joining them on their forthcoming Epitath Tour.

The band respect his decision and naturally all wish him well.

Having thought long and hard about how to proceed, Rob, Glenn, Ian and Scott uninimously agreed that they should go ahead with the tour and not let the fans down around the world.

Fate also stepped in and delivered the perfect replacement - 31 year old British guitarist Richie Faulkner - he has blended into the band perfectly and is a great talent who is going to set the stage on fire!

The Epitath tour will include songs from every Judas Priest album and also tracks they have never performed on stage, plus all the old favourites!

With a new album due to be released next year, the Metal Gods are preparing to tour the planet once more - Heavy metal at it's best with lasers, lights, bikes and hellfire! It's a show not to be missed!

Origin posts second studio report online

published on April 20, 2011 by Zandra
Technical death metallers Origin have posted a new studio report online. You can watch the video below.
The band has also released a first of three track by track commentaries concerning "Entity" (which will be released on June 7 in North America) :

1. Expulsion of Fury
Paul Ryan: Well I don’t how to put it other than WE’RE BACK! It’s just a taste of what's to come. Out of the gate at LUDICROUS SPEED with one of the most challenging ORIGIN riffs of all time, then it slams into our traditional pattern blasting. Followed by a new challenge of song composition & dynamics. The last riff is a heartbeat pulse that John throws a machine gun blast that's just pummeling.

John Longstrength: A heartbeat with a BAAAAAAD murmur. This first half of this song is like going back in time and visiting the Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas days for me. For 10 years people have been asking ORIGIN to play grooves, so we play some grooves right here. if there isn't enough on this song, what do we do?

2. Purgatory
John Longstrength: WE PLAY ANOTHER GROOVE!!!! But immediately bring back the warp speed brutality. This is one of the handful of songs that we worked on while stranded in Holland for 12 days. Brings back strange memories of experimenting with a 5 piece.

Paul Ryan: I always wanted to do something really heavy and draw the listener in and then explode back out with a really quick riff. Short and sick like!

Mike Flores: Super catchy followed immediately by crazy. Fun at first but then it starts to hurt.

3. Conceiving Death
John Longstrength: The final song of the opening trilogy of Entity. This song incorporates classic ORIGIN death grind, break downs, a really bizarre punch section and some black metal thrown in at the end JUST to make sure all the bases are covered.

Paul Ryan: About as brutal as you can get on this one for me. Mike & I split up the lyrics/vocal patterns on this one. I wrote the solo w a little IRON MAIDEN harmony at the tail end for fun!

4. Swarm
John Longstrength: Classic meat n' potatoes ORIGIN. Short and sweet. This is the first song Paul and I worked on in my living room with padded drums and a POD plugged into my stereo.

Paul Ryan: In your face ORIGIN. Fast swarming guitars!”

The Soulless reveals new album artwork and track listing

published on April 19, 2011 by Zandra
British melodic death metallers The Soulless (formerly Ignominious Incarceration) will release their new album "Isolated" on June 7 via Earache Records.

Commented vocalist Andy Wardle on album's artwork : "We chose Ryohei Hase for our artwork. He did the art for Ignominious Incarceration's album and although we wanted something quite different, we know he does an awesome job. The guy on the front is supposed to be hung up as an outcast from society. He is isolated which ties in with the album title and lyrical themes within. We are really happy with the bleak colours and the overall look."

The track listing for the CD is as follows :

01. Unaltered
02. The Path
03. Earthbound
04. 13th Morning
05. New Perspective
06. Clones

Communic reveals new album track listing and cover art

published on April 18, 2011 by Zandra
Swedish metallers Communic will release their new album “The Bottom Deep” on July 22 via Nuclear Blast. The track listing for the CD is as follows :

01. Facing Tomorrow
02. Denial
03. Flood River Blood
04. Voyage Of Discovery
05. In Silence With My Scars
06. My Fallen
07. Destroyer Of Bloodlines
08. Wayward Soul
09. The Bottom Deep
10. Bonus Track: In Union We Stand

Commented frontman Oddleif Stensland : “Writing and recording this album has been an amazing - but strange experience. This time we took control over the production ourself, resulting in a more honest and organic sounding album. Never before have I put so much of my own personal influence and privacy into the lyrics and songs as this time. Right now I have a mixed feeling of fear and total excitement as we release the artwork and track listing for this new album. Now there is no return. To open myself this way, exposing my deepest and inner thoughts, in a way I have never done before. Its kinda strange, as it feels like these words and songs came from a part of me that I didn't know about. This is “The Bottom Deep”. This is the album that I never in my life thought I had to write – but now I know, this will be a totem in my life – forever!"

In Solitude reveals new album title, track listing & cover art

published on April 14, 2011 by Zandra
In Solitude has set "The World. The Flesh. The Devil" as the title of their new album, which will be released on May 24 through Metal Blade Records. The artwork was created by Jesse Peper.

Commented the band : "At first, we had a very hard time trying to make our world and our material visual as an album cover. A few collaborations were made, thousands of ideas were put on test, but sadly enough, we were never satisfied. But as we came across the exceptional and amazing world of Jesse Peper, and the specific shadow portrait you see on the cover (not to forget the ones that live within its pages), it was as if we all remembered something. Like out of a dream, or distant memory. Of a face that told us to step into this darkness; the darkness in which the seeds of In Solitude grow and bloom. And with Jesse Peper we certainly came closer. And we are always coming closer; further away and closer home. And the cover depicts our guide, on burning paths."

The World.The Flesh.The Devil track listing :

1. The World, The Flesh, The Devil
2. We Were Never Here
3. Serpents Are Rising
4. Poisoned, Blessed, and Burned
5. Demons
6. To Her Darkness
7. Dance of the Adversary
8. On Burning Paths

Forbidden announces 2nd North American headlining tour

published on April 14, 2011 by Zandra
Thrash metallers Forbidden will embark on the second leg of the North American tour. Support on the trek will come from Revocation, White Wizzard and Havok.
Commented guitarist Craig Locicero : “Forbidden is proud to announce our first proper headlining tour in 16 years throughout the North America this Summer! Finally! We will be bringing out Revocation, White Wizzard and Havok along for the fun. These bands are all hungry, cool and young guns and they will add to the excitement!

Something we witnessed last Winter was the economy crushing many tours. A lot of kids just can't afford the ticket prices anymore. When we made the jump to the Pantheon Agency a few months ago, we made it clear that we wanted a reduced ticket price and all ages venues. That way all the fans of FORBIDDEN can afford to go and bring their friends of all ages along for a real Thrash experience! Well that is just what we've done. Ticket prices will be between $10-$15 ever where we play. Step one is complete!

Step two is the actual gigs themselves. We will be starting at the Whiskey in Hollywood on June 9th and then we head North into Canada for an extensive run into the East, South, Mid-West to eventually end the tour in San Diego on July 2nd. These will be raw, intimate and bare boned Thrash Metal shows. Exactly how we started it. How it was meant to be!

So tell your friends, grab your kids...whatever it takes. You are ALL invited to join us on this Omega Wave!”
