FEAR FACTORY will return to the stage later this month as part of their ongoing Fear Campaign tour. The short string of U.S. dates will kick off in Tempe, Arizona on December 29 and conclude 9 days later in San Diego, California on January 8. FEAR FACTORY -- guitarist Dino Cazares, vocalist Burton C. Bell, bassist Byron Stroud and drummer Gene Hoglan -- spent the greater part of 2010 touring in support of their critically-acclaimed Mechanize full-length released in February via Candlelight Records. Decibel magazine called Mechanize the “greatest FEAR FACTORY full-length in more than a decade,” while Revolver noted, “the record marks a clear return to the classic FEAR FACTORY sound. The result rings familiar but also fresh; even in the very futuristic year of 2010.” Added Blabbermouth: “FEAR FACTORY 2010 is a fiery and evolved rebirth of the band that changed metal in the '90s…Mechanize is the album I have been waiting for.”

Finnish heavy metallers Lordi have announced the name of their new drummer : Otus, which means "Creature". Commented frontman Mr.Lordi :
"We are not really sure who or what he is, he is just … a creature, a thing (otus in Finnish). He is a mixture of a butcher, an executioner, an alien, a lizzard and a zombie. Tough dude. And definitely one of the ugliest members in our family..."
Otus will be on stage for the first time with Lordi in St. Petersburg, Russia on November 5, the first date of the "Europe For Breakfast".
New York, NY: DevilDriver announced today the release of their forthcoming fifth album, Beast. Beast was produced by Mark Lewis (All That Remains, Trivium, The Black Dahlia Murder) and will hit retail via longtime label Roadrunner Records on February 22, 2011.
While many bands in the modern era are already withering away by their second album and have shriveled up and died by their third, DevilDriver have proven to mutate, growing stronger, deadlier and more immortal with each successive release. Beast, which follows 2009's Pray For Villains, finds the band refusing to compromise in their mission to deliver music that will make you feel as though you were slapped upside the head with a baseball bat. The band recorded 14 songs during the Beast sessions, with 11 or 12 tracks expected to make the final cut. Some song titles are as follows: "Dead to Rights," "Hardened," "Bring The Fight (To the Floor)," "Shitlist," "Talons Out (Teeth Sharpened)," "Blur," "You Make Me Sick (Sacred Secrets)," "The Blame Game," "Coldblooded, "Crowns of Creation" and "Lend Myself to the Night."
Finnish heavy metal monsters LORDI have released the following statement:
"It is our unfortunate task to inform that Kita [drums] is no longer a member of LORDI.
"Kita has made a decision to pursue his own career publicly as himself, without his alter ego Kita. This is in direct conflict with one of the cornerstones of LORDI's image. Therefore it is not possible for him to continue as a member of the band anymore.
"LORDI will continue as always, masked and costumed, consisting of monster personas. Also, the upcoming tour will happen as planned.
"We thank Kita for the years he has been an important part of the band and our successes and wish him all the best in his future."
As previously reported, STALA & SO. (formerly SO.), the Finnish melodic rock band which features in its ranks Kita (real name: Sampsa Astala) on vocals and ex-LORDI bassist Kalma (real name: Niko Hurme; also known by his current stage name Nick Gore), is competing to represent Finland in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. There will be three weekly semifinals in January 2011, each featuring five artists. From every semifinal, three songs will proceed to the final. Finnish broadcasting company YLE will then pick a wild card among those artists who were eliminated in the semifinals to complete the final lineup of ten songs. During the final, three songs will be selected to proceed to the superfinal (to be held on February 12), where the Finnish entry for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen.

Northamptonshire, England: FEAR FACTORY in the early morning hours narrowly escaped fire that quickly engulfed their tour bus while in route to London. The fire reportedly stemmed from a back wheel tire before spreading throughout the double-decker coach. BBC News confirms the fire closed down two lanes of the southbound M1 as Northamptonshire fire officials battled the blaze.
FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares released the following comment moments ago: "We had just finished playing a sold out show in Sheffield and we were on our way to London. Everyone was asleep except for two of our crew. At about 3:30am the bus driver noticed smoke coming from the back right wheel. He stopped, jumped out and noticed a flame underneath the wheel well. He tried to extinguish it but the flames were too much. Everyone on the bus was woken up by one of our crew yelling 'Get everyone up and out of the bus.' Everyone grabbed their bags and ran off the bus. We stood on the side of the freeway going 'thank god we all made it out' until someone noticed our merchandise guy was still asleep on the bus. A good friend of ours ran back on the smoked-filled bus and got him out just minutes before the bus was completely in flames."
FEAR FACTORY are currently on tour in the UK continuing performances in support of their latest album, Mechanize. The band completed their most recent American tour on July 27th to a captivated audience in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The following evening the band departed from New York's John F. Kennedy Airport for an additional three weeks of dates in the UK and other various European festivals.
Cazares adds, "our eyes are burning and we were all coughing from the smoke. Some of us lost wallets, money, computers but that's not important compared to our lives. It only took about 20 to 30 minutes for the bus to be completely covered in flames. The fire trucks and the police finally arrived but it was too late to save anything on the bus. A coach bus picked us up and brought us safely to a nearby hotel. We found out only a short while ago that the trailer was saved where all our gear was. But the bus is just a metal frame on the side of the road."

Commented Burton C. : "I am very curious to see the reaction to this video. It was filmed by a good friend of ours, Myles Dyer. He has been a great supporter of Fear Factory for a long time, and now he has become a prominent videographer. He traveled with us for about a week during the U.K. portion of the 'Fear Campaign' tour earlier this year.
Although 'Powershifter' was leaked in the early stages of release, we wanted to produce an online-only video for Fear Factory fans everywhere.
