We recorded, like, 15 or 16 songs. In a week we did all the drums and we spent the next two and a half, three weeks doing all the guitars and vocals. We did it pretty fast and it sounds great."

Commented Metallica : "You've probably heard us all say it . . . the vibe was just so incredible at last year's 'Big Four' shows that we can't stop now!! So we're finally bringing the love to our home turf on April 23, 2011 with 'TALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH, and ANTHRAX in Indio, California at the Empire Polo Club (yes, the more observant of you will note that this is the same spot where the Coachella festival takes place the weekend before).
It's true — this is indeed the only scheduled stop in America this go around, so we're hoping that you can head West to join us. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 28 at 10 a.m. PST and Fan Club members can check MetClub.com for pre-sale and VIP package info."
Roadrunner Records announced Kerry King of Slayer joining Megadeth on stage last week on the Jagermeister Tour show in Los Angeles, California. King joined Megadeth for the song "Rattlehead." Roadrunner states this was the first time he joined Megadeth since 1984.
SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo told MusikUniverse.net that he was the only member of the veteran thrash metal act to take part in the "Big Four" jam in Sofia, Bulgaria because his bandmates "don't do that kind of thing."
Many fans were surprised to see that Lombardo was the only musician from SLAYER to perform with members of METALLICA, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX at the end of the June 22 "Big Four" concert broadcast from the Sonisphere festival in Bulgaria.
Lombardo explained to MusikUniverse.net: "I'm the only one who knows how to jam! The other guys don't do that kind of thing. They know their music once it's written — they don't go up and improvise and enjoy themselves. Jeff Hanneman [guitar] does a little bit, but Tom Araya [bass, vocals] and Kerry King [guitar] don't."
During the MusikUniverse.net chat, Lombardo also shot down suggestions that SLAYER has recorded its last album following Araya's recent back surgery which forced the band off the road for a period of several months.
"SLAYER's days aren't numbered," Lombardo said. "Everyone goes through certain things. I went through an accident and needed surgery in 2004. But I wasn't on tour, so nobody knew about it. These things happen. You heal and you move forward." He added, "Tours and albums will keep coming out — they haven't stopped in 25 years and I don't think they're ever going to stop."
The song "Indian Theme" from the progressive metal band Mastodon is now available for streaming at this location .
This track comes off the EP "Jonah Hex" , to be released on June 29 via Reprise Records .
"World Painted Blood" , the new Slayer's video , is available and can be viewed below . This song is the title-track of the band's latest album , released on November 3 , 2009 via American Records .
Slayer.net, the official Web site of Slayer, posted the following press release:
The “Big Four”, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax are bringing their historic European tour to the global stage by beaming the event via satellite to movie theaters around the world in a special HD cinematic event. These four legendary acts broke out of the underground thrash movement in the 1980’s to dominate the metal world, selling millions of records and packing arenas across the globe. Despite huge demand, these musical giants have never shared the same stage until now. The legendary June 22nd concert from the tour’s stop of the Sonisphere Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria will air the same day in 450 theaters in over 140 markets in the U.S., as well as beamed into theaters in Europe, Canada and Latin America. Delayed screenings are planned in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Tickets for “The Big Four: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax” go on sale starting today Friday, May 21st in the U.S. and internationally starting Friday, May 28th at participating theater box offices and at www.thebigfourlive.com, where fans can also view the event cinema trailer.
In December 2009, the bands announced that they would be joining forces to take part in the traveling Sonisphere Festival for only 7 shows across Europe. Now, this one-time only event from the Sofia show makes it possible for fans far and wide to participate in what otherwise is a very limited run of dates. The high-definition concert presentation will memorialize the event and the impact will be amplified globally with the cinema screenings, making the dreams of fans around the world over become a reality.
Lars Ulrich of Metallica says of this historic announcement, "Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's Big Four would not only still be around, be more popular than ever, playing shows together at stadiums all over Europe, and on top of that, coming to a movie theater near you in High Definition (for better or worse??!!). Bring it on!"
Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian says “Damn, as if this Big 4 tour wasn't exciting enough now we get to be on the big screen worldwide! Metal at the movies, two big horns up! It is unbelievably gratifying that this means so much to the metal community around the globe. Get your tix, grab some popcorn and get ready to bang your head!”
Declares Slayer’s Kerry King, “I can’t believe someone didn’t make this happen 15 years ago! The fans finally get what they want. I think it’s awesome!”
Says Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, “The magnitude of this event hasn't really sunk in yet, and I am thrilled to know that people around the planet will be able to walk into a movie theater and experience the greatest line up of Heavy Metal in the history of the world!”
“The Big Four: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax” digital cinema event is distributed globally by New York-based BY Experience.
Tickets for the one night only event are available now at presenting U.S. theater box offices and online at www.thebigfourlive.com. Tickets go on sale internationally from Friday, May 28th. Additional cinemas/countries may be added. Presently, over 800 cinemas worldwide will exhibit the concert event. Exhibition times may vary by territory. In the U.S., the program will commence at 7:30 PM in each time zone.

Writing the song was a fun experience. We started piecing riffs together on tour and then we really put time into the song when we got home and had the chance to go into the practice space to work on our ideas as a group.
This new song captures a certain energy we've been trying to harness on record as well, as it will show all our fans worldwide where Trivium is heading musically in the future."

Nick Augusto is now the permanent drummer of the band Trivium . He has already been introduced to the fans during the "Into the Mouth of Hell We Tour" trek .
Matt Heafy (vocalist/guitarist) said : " We're really happy to have our good friend and fellow Floridian Nick Augusto join the Trivium family . Nick's drumming is very technical and diverse and he brings a real intense energy to the band and we can't wait for everyone to hear the new song, 'Shattering the Skies Above', that we just recorded with Nick . I think it's the best Trivium recording we've ever done; it's raw, full of energy and I think Nick's drumming really pushed us to a new level ."
Thrash metal band Slayer is forced to cancel its tour plans due to bassist/vocalist Araya's back problems (a cervical radiculopathy) . He suffers from intermittent attacks of severe pain, numbness and muscle spasms.
The American and Canadian Carnage Tour dates with Megadeth and Testament are also cancelled .
Slayer's manager Rick Sales commented : "Tom gave various medical treatments more than a fair shot , but they just haven't handled the problem, so he's biting the bullet and is scheduled for back surgery at the end of this month." He added : "As unfortunate as this is for so many people - the Megadeth and Testament camps, the concerts' promoters, and, of course, the fans - Tom's health is the number one priority, and this has to happen."
Canadian concert promoters Gillett Entertainment Group has announced the postponement of the "Canadian Carnage" tour featuring SLAYER, MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD and SUICIDE SILENCE. The tour, which was due to begin on November 8, was called off after SLAYER frontman Tom Araya was ordered to undergo an immediate surgical procedure for a back injury, thought to be related to his on-stage activity. More information will be released shortly regarding the new Canadian dates.
