Commented Metallica : "You've probably heard us all say it . . . the vibe was just so incredible at last year's 'Big Four' shows that we can't stop now!! So we're finally bringing the love to our home turf on April 23, 2011 with 'TALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH, and ANTHRAX in Indio, California at the Empire Polo Club (yes, the more observant of you will note that this is the same spot where the Coachella festival takes place the weekend before).
It's true — this is indeed the only scheduled stop in America this go around, so we're hoping that you can head West to join us. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 28 at 10 a.m. PST and Fan Club members can check MetClub.com for pre-sale and VIP package info."
(New York, NY): In what promises to be the hottest tour of winter 2011, Korn and Disturbed, two of rock's biggest acts, are teaming up to co-headline this year's “Monster Energy Music As A Weapon 5 Tour”.
Jonathan Davis of Korn and David Draiman of Disturbed both spoke about how the 45-city trek across America came about:
"We've both just finished great tours. We headlined Mayhem and Disturbed headlined Uproar. The Disturbed guys came out to see us play in Chicago and we got to talking about doing something together. We both agreed that as cool as those types of tours are, they usually only hit major markets, and we both agreed that a lot of our fans just don't live in those cities, etc so we thought it would be cool to team up, put a big show together, and hit every great place that those big tours never get to. Besides all that, with us and Disturbed together, doing full shows with full production...all I can say is IT’S ON!" ...said the excited Korn frontman.
"We are thrilled to launch the Monster Energy Music As A Weapon 5 Tour with our good friends from Korn," added Disturbed singer David Draiman. "Every year we try to up the ante, and this year, by having Korn co-headline, we really think it's going to be our best tour yet. When the idea first came up, one of the main things both bands agreed upon and wanted to focus on was hitting a lot of smaller markets. It’s exciting to bring a show like this to cities that are usually skipped over on some of the other larger rock tours that only hit the major markets. We have a lot of loyal fans in these cities and we wanted to bring them a show that they deserve".
Tickets for the first leg of the tour are set to go on sale the weekend of December 4. The bands have decided that the first 1000 tickets from each show will be sold at a $5 discount during the on sale weekend in order to reward the early buyers and fans.
"A lot of promoters only offer discounted tickets a day or two before the actual show date. We wanted to do something for the fans that are buying their tickets as soon as they go on sale. To offer a discount upfront made the most sense to us," commented Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan.
"We're tired of promoters offering discounted tickets to last minute folks in order to sell the seats in the back of the gig. We'd rather give our fans a discount for buying early," said James "Munky" Shaffer, who is Korn’s guitarist.
The cities for the first leg of the tour are listed below. More tour markets to be announced soon.
Roadrunner Records announced Kerry King of Slayer joining Megadeth on stage last week on the Jagermeister Tour show in Los Angeles, California. King joined Megadeth for the song "Rattlehead." Roadrunner states this was the first time he joined Megadeth since 1984.
"Let the Guilt Go", the second single off Korn's new album "Korn III : Remember Who You Are" is available at artistdirect.com.
According to the site, "the video gets very spacey and a little scary, but it also tells a parallel twisted narrative of growing up—figuratively and literally."

SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo told MusikUniverse.net that he was the only member of the veteran thrash metal act to take part in the "Big Four" jam in Sofia, Bulgaria because his bandmates "don't do that kind of thing."
Many fans were surprised to see that Lombardo was the only musician from SLAYER to perform with members of METALLICA, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX at the end of the June 22 "Big Four" concert broadcast from the Sonisphere festival in Bulgaria.
Lombardo explained to MusikUniverse.net: "I'm the only one who knows how to jam! The other guys don't do that kind of thing. They know their music once it's written — they don't go up and improvise and enjoy themselves. Jeff Hanneman [guitar] does a little bit, but Tom Araya [bass, vocals] and Kerry King [guitar] don't."
During the MusikUniverse.net chat, Lombardo also shot down suggestions that SLAYER has recorded its last album following Araya's recent back surgery which forced the band off the road for a period of several months.
"SLAYER's days aren't numbered," Lombardo said. "Everyone goes through certain things. I went through an accident and needed surgery in 2004. But I wasn't on tour, so nobody knew about it. These things happen. You heal and you move forward." He added, "Tours and albums will keep coming out — they haven't stopped in 25 years and I don't think they're ever going to stop."
New York, NY: Korn’s ninth studio album, Korn III: Remember Who You Are, which Spin described as “packing pain by the pound,” debuted today at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 sales charts. The album sold 63,000 copies. The album also debuted at #1 on the Hard Music Chart, both top and current, and is #1 on the Current Alternative Chart, as well. Korn III is the band’s seventh album to land in the Top 5.
Internationally, Korn III debuted Top 5 in Austria, Canada, Japan, Germany and New Zealand, Top 10 in Australia, Mexico and Switzerland and Top 20 in France, Denmark and Holland, with several countries yet to report. In almost every International market, these chart positions have exceeded the chart debuts from their previous albums.
Korn III has been universally praised, as it finds the Bakersfield, California band returning “to the sound and rawness of their first two records” (MetroMix.) The album certainly signifies a revisiting of Korn’s sturdy, firmly planted roots; they once again worked with producer Ross Robinson, who twiddled the knobs for their first two albums, yet Korn still play to the strengths and growth that they’ve experienced as a unit for the past two decades. Billboard proclaimed that Korn III “moves forward more than it retrenches” and “introduces some fresh dynamic sensibilities.” ARTISTdirect awarded the album five stars and declared that Korn IIII has “that gripping catharsis that made millions of people believers on Korn and Life Is Peachy. However, Korn stand even stronger than they did during those first two masterpieces.”
Korn are currently on tour, co-headlining the main stage of the third annual Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, which is enjoying a 30% uptick in sales this year, bucking the trend of a down summer touring season that is seeing several cancellations.
Korn is Jonathan Davis (vocals), Fieldy (bass), James “Munky” Shaffer (guitar) and Ray Luzier (drums).

Shortly after the announcement of top touring artists joining the BP boycott started by Grammy-award winning rock band KORN, a large contingent of top touring bands have joined the cause. New additions to the boycott against BP and its affiliates include Maroon 5, Shinedown, 30 Seconds To Mars, Chevelle, Sevendust, Puddle of Mudd, Neon Trees, Halestorm, Mutiny Within, Saliva, Soulfly, Story of the Year, Adelitas Way, 10 Years, Hail The Villain and the Carnival of Madness Tour. These touring artists join the already extensive list of those committing to avoid BP, bringing the total to 30 artists and two national festival tours (complete roster below).
“As someone born in Louisiana, this hits close to home. It is an already fragile ecosystem hit by this terrible and senseless tragedy of unprecedented proportions; it is heartbreaking that this has happened. As people work to find solutions to help deal with this catastrophe hopefully there will be new measures put in place to address the dangers of our complete and total reliance on fossil fuels.” – Jared Leto, 30 Seconds To Mars
“We've noticed the BP oil disaster being referred to as one of our country's biggest natural disasters, but let's be clear, this is a man-made disaster. Even the word "spill" is misleading, as what happened in the Gulf of Mexico was April 20th, 2010 was and is a systematic failure on the part of a corporation made too powerful by the exiting Bush Administration. Boycotting BP will not end our dependency on oil, or change the fact that our infrastructure is set up so that we all use oil in some capacity of our daily lives. But it sends a message loud and clear that consumers will not tolerate the kind of reckless irresponsibility and lack of respect BP has shown for, among many things, the myriad ways of life in the Gulf Of Mexico. If it makes even one company re-think it's safety measures, or maybe off-shore drilling as a whole, your voice is worth it. Until corporations grow a conscience, the only place to hit them is their wallet; their bottom line.
Is boycotting BP the answer to our nation’s dependency on oil? No. This disaster signals that America is overdue for radical changes in our infrastructure, not just a boycott. Are the gas stations you visit instead of BP perfect angels? No, but they are scared shitless that you might boycott them too, and if that's what it takes to get them to clean up their act, so be it. The worst thing that we can do is stand by and do nothing. Inaction will ensure that this happens again, so please be a part of the solution. Rise Against is proud to be a part of the growing list of bands that have committed to boycotting BP, and we hope you too decide to be a part of the solution in these tumultuous times.” – Rise Against
Here is a complete list of participants in the BP Boycott - KORN, Disturbed, Lady Gaga, Rise Against, Godsmack, Backstreet Boys, Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Slightly Stoopid, Rob Zombie, Megadeth, Black Label Society with Zakk Wylde, Anthrax, Filter, Hellyeah, Flogging Molly, Maroon 5, Shinedown, 30 Seconds To Mars, Chevelle, Sevendust, Puddle of Mudd, Neon Trees, Soulfly, Halestorm, Mutiny Within, Saliva, Story of the Year, Adelitas Way, 10 Years, Hail The Villain, and the Carnival of Madness Tour

The “Big Four”, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax are bringing their historic European tour to the global stage by beaming the event via satellite to movie theaters around the world in a special HD cinematic event. These four legendary acts broke out of the underground thrash movement in the 1980’s to dominate the metal world, selling millions of records and packing arenas across the globe. Despite huge demand, these musical giants have never shared the same stage until now. The legendary June 22nd concert from the tour’s stop of the Sonisphere Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria will air the same day in 450 theaters in over 140 markets in the U.S., as well as beamed into theaters in Europe, Canada and Latin America. Delayed screenings are planned in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Tickets for “The Big Four: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax” go on sale starting today Friday, May 21st in the U.S. and internationally starting Friday, May 28th at participating theater box offices and at www.thebigfourlive.com, where fans can also view the event cinema trailer.
In December 2009, the bands announced that they would be joining forces to take part in the traveling Sonisphere Festival for only 7 shows across Europe. Now, this one-time only event from the Sofia show makes it possible for fans far and wide to participate in what otherwise is a very limited run of dates. The high-definition concert presentation will memorialize the event and the impact will be amplified globally with the cinema screenings, making the dreams of fans around the world over become a reality.
Lars Ulrich of Metallica says of this historic announcement, "Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's Big Four would not only still be around, be more popular than ever, playing shows together at stadiums all over Europe, and on top of that, coming to a movie theater near you in High Definition (for better or worse??!!). Bring it on!"
Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian says “Damn, as if this Big 4 tour wasn't exciting enough now we get to be on the big screen worldwide! Metal at the movies, two big horns up! It is unbelievably gratifying that this means so much to the metal community around the globe. Get your tix, grab some popcorn and get ready to bang your head!”
Declares Slayer’s Kerry King, “I can’t believe someone didn’t make this happen 15 years ago! The fans finally get what they want. I think it’s awesome!”
Says Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, “The magnitude of this event hasn't really sunk in yet, and I am thrilled to know that people around the planet will be able to walk into a movie theater and experience the greatest line up of Heavy Metal in the history of the world!”
“The Big Four: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax” digital cinema event is distributed globally by New York-based BY Experience.
Tickets for the one night only event are available now at presenting U.S. theater box offices and online at www.thebigfourlive.com. Tickets go on sale internationally from Friday, May 28th. Thrash metal band Slayer is forced to cancel its tour plans due to bassist/vocalist Araya's back problems (a cervical radiculopathy) . He suffers from intermittent attacks of severe pain, numbness and muscle spasms.
The American and Canadian Carnage Tour dates with Megadeth and Testament are also cancelled .
Slayer's manager Rick Sales commented : "Tom gave various medical treatments more than a fair shot , but they just haven't handled the problem, so he's biting the bullet and is scheduled for back surgery at the end of this month." He added : "As unfortunate as this is for so many people - the Megadeth and Testament camps, the concerts' promoters, and, of course, the fans - Tom's health is the number one priority, and this has to happen."
According to MetOnTour.com, Metallica will release a new DVD featuring footage from the band's Canadian performances in Quebec City, Quebec (October 31 and November 1) and Ottawa, Ontario (November 3). Canadian concert promoters Gillett Entertainment Group has announced the postponement of the "Canadian Carnage" tour featuring SLAYER, MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD and SUICIDE SILENCE.
