Kirk Windstein, guitarist of Down, said the band would enter the studio at the end of the month. However, it will not be in order to write an album !
Indeed, the band will instead record four EPs, each with a different aspect: one rather heavy, another inclined to doom, etc..
The guitarist has justified this approach by explaining that today, no one wants to spend that much money in a CD as it's too expensive, and everyone prefers to download it for free. However, as an EP is cheaper than a CD, the guitarist hopes this will motivate the public to buy the EPs and not to download them !
Reminder:
As former bassist Rex Brown is no longer in the band, Patrick Bruderer (Crowbar) is now Down's bassist.
Exhorder bassist Frankie Sparcello passed away today. More information will be made available later.
Commented Exhorder vocalist Kyle Thomas : "Don't know quite what to say, so I will say I love you and see you on the other side some day.
For those that are unaware, Frankie Sparcello of Exhorder passed away yesterday. What was supposed to be a birthday gathering for me now will include toasting his life and friendship tonight at Pat's Pub."
Rigor Mortis vocalist Bruce Corbitt : "RIP Frankie Sparcello of Exhorder! Man, I admit I am shocked about this tragic news. I just saw him at the Down show in Houston 2 weeks ago and he seemed fine. I was really looking forward to having fun with him in a few weeks at the Exhorder/Rigor Mortis shows. My thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends and bandmates!"

Commented Kirk Windstein :
"The song has all the elements that CROWBAR are about: speed, then a killer, hooky pre-chorus, a hooky chorus and then a stupidly heavy and sludgy slow ending.
It's personal to me, because in New Orleans, the area is known for architecture in the cemeteries. Since the city is below sea level, the tombs are above ground and elaborate, and they say that cemetery angels watch over the tombs. I feel like angels are watching me as far as everything I've done. I'm not dead yet and have been sober for four months, and I have this whole new outlook on life and a brand new spin on everything. . . The opening line is 'You gave me wings and took the sky away,' which is a line from an [Alcoholics Anonymous] book. I am not a 'program person,' but that is precisely what alcohol did for me. It gave me wings and then took the sky away. Alcohol can make you feel good, but you are lost. So the lyrics are a spin on that."

The band from New Orlean Crowbar has officially splited with the guitarist Steve Gibb and has replaced him with Matthew Brunson from Kingdom of Sorrow . Kirk Windstein (guitar , vocal) reacted : "We, of course, all remain very good friends with Steve Gibb, but his personal training business and gym are doing great, I'm happy to report, but that, and his family at home, simply do not give him the time to play with CROWBAR any longer. We love him dearly and thank him for his dedication while he was jamming with CROWBAR."
