Interview with Aborted

Get ready, the beast called Aborted is coming back with The Necrotic Manifesto!

Metalship caught up with JB Van der Wall (bass) to talk about this new release...

Metalship : Hello JB! How are you since the Global Flatline album?

Hey flo!  Really good, busy obviously,  but atmosphere in the band has been great since we released it,  my 2 friends, and now full time band members,  who  joined after the release of Global Flatline, Danny Tunker and Mendel Bij de Leij, have been doing a great job at making sure we as a band top Global Flatline. And hearing all the positive feedback on the new song we released, were already more proud of the new album then we already were.

Metalship : Aborted is coming back with a new release! So where does the name of The Necrotic Manifesto? What does it mean for you?

It means hate, a lot of hate, i think i can say for a bunch of nice guys we do hate a lot of things, really, really bad. And this album is a result of that, same as with global flatline ,we still want the population off the face of the earth. And with this album we just want that even more, we started hating even more intensely , and we want everything to fuck off and rot away, its a manifesto of deep rooted hate for all things human. But you know what they say: good things come to those who hate.

Metalship : How would you compare it to your previous albums?

Better for one, the songs i wrote for it this time are similar to the ones i wrote for global flatline, which was the first album i wrote songs for, and i notice they became better , since i played the same songs live and saw what worked and what didnt.
And the same goes for the other guys aswell, ken has been writing songs for the same amount for aborted as me, the other 2 guitarplayers found their spot perfectly, and its also a easy group to work with, since we dont act like assholes to eachothers critique, and because of that write better songs as a group.  And alot faster and more effective too.
This album reflects that, and im way more proud of this album because of it.

Metalship : What or who inspired you the most as a band during the processes of writing and recording?

You mean what bands inspire us? Alot of Bloodbath, Exhumed, Impaled, Nasum, Rottensound. But we all have pretty diverse music tastes that come thru, i personaly listen to alot of stoner/sludge and blackmetal stuff, and Aborted doesnt sound like it at all offcourse (even though bass does sound distorted and mainly and sludgey this time around.), but i definitely  got inspired from High On Fire and Neurosis even for this album.

Metalship : Can you tell us the story of your collaborations with Vincent Benett (The Acacia Strain) and Phlegeton (Wormed) on "Your Entitlement Means Nothing" and “Excremental Veracity”?

We all loved the stuff Phlegeton did for wormed, and we saw him perform at Obscene Extreme, were they killed it, so there you go. And Vincent because he sounds mean as fuck, and Sven is a huge fan.

Metalship : To promote your album, do you plan to realize a videoclip?

Yup, when and how, you'll just have to wait and see though.

Metalship : So now that you've got the new album out, what's next for you guys?
What type of direction do you see the music going in with your next album?

Were going off to tour the US in a few days with Kataklysm and Pyrexia, were playing a whole bunch of festivals, and playing some places we havent been before too this year.
Next to that were just gonna write more songs while were at it, and make sure they top Necrotic Manifesto like Necrotic Manifesto topped Global Flatline.
Never a dull moment, always more hate.

Metalship : What represent the fact of being on stage for you? Is it the best part for a musician?

I like writing alot too, but yeah, playing live is definitely awesome, im pretty sure we would all go nuts and kill a bunch of people if we didnt play live.
The we world is a saver place if we keep playing probably, so thats what were doing.
Amps to 11, head switched to everything foad, and were good.

Metalship : If we're talking about touring, what's the most interesting incidents that have happened with you on tour?

If i wanna keep any friends, and not have my parents disown me, im gonna have to refrain from answering that with my own story's.
All i can say is dont do Absynth in Czech republic, you will end up falling into large amounts of noodles, and with slutty girls eating your hamburgers.
But seeing Mendel and System Divide guitarist Steve Miller fail at trying to break up a catfight infront of a hotel in the UK (and having them question if they could get aids from scratches) was quit amusing.
Mendel got raped by Brett from revocation in his bunk, also amazing, the amount he didnt seem to mind it was more scary then the actuall rape though.
It useally involves Mendel.

Metalship : What were your favourite albums so far, and what albums are you currently looking forward to?

Ive been spinning the last Cult of luna full length alot, last Benighted, Kampfar Nails, Beastmilk,
have all been rocking my iphone too.
And i cant wait for the new Entrapment full length, oldschool deathmetal from holland, and the new BÖLZER record.

Metalship : What are the news for System Divide and all your other bands?

Thats for sven to answer, but System divide is taking a hiatus.
Mendel is doing great with his own solo project.
And my stoner/sludge band is releasing a  full length album in April.

Metalship : Thank you so much for your precious time, I let you the final word!

MORE HATE MOTHERFUCKER!!
