Quite a few of you may only have become aware of the gargantuan hard rock machine that is Fury UK when they recently opened for the mighty
Saxon on their UK tour. Sounding like if Maiden had a gang bang with
Saxon and the
Scorpions, this Manchester based band really know how to rock hard. Their songs are catchy, their music defines the best of NWOBHM and best of all they are genuine musicians who can actually play and write killer heavy metal! Sounds like one amazing band doesn’t it..... Well, that would be an understatement!
A Way of Life captures the rock vibe in ten perfectly written; perfectly mastered anthems that are capable of bringing down the roof at any venue. There’s not one bad apple among this heavy metal orchard and it’s this that makes every track on A Way of Life ideal material for a Fury UK set. Whether you pick the cantering call to arms that is ‘Savior’ or the slower, sleazier ‘One God’ you will please any fan present at the concert, and be guaranteed to see a colossal wave of head banging and fist pumping.
If you listen to the guitar parts on this album it makes you think: “If only Maiden have thought of this” or “If only
Saxon were this relevant”. The fact is where those bands have reached their peak in the 21st century and don’t seem to be going anywhere, Fury UK still has all the NWOBHM power presence in every single one of their songs, but they make it so that fans of different types of metal can relate to it as well. ‘Alien Skies’ soars in with a
KISS sounding bass grove and the acoustic diversity of ‘Athena’ shows that Fury UK don’t just go full steam ahead, guns blazing on A Way of Life, but still leave space for tunefulness, melody and excellent musicianship.
It’s a shame really that Fury UK aren’t very well known, as when this stuff hits peoples ear drums, shit will go down. Fury UK missed out big time by releasing this in 2010 and to ensure they pull in the fans to enjoy the sweet music which they are creating. It is going to be hard for Fury UK to top the awesomeness that is A Way of Life, but with the bands history of back catalog I have no doubt they will do something superb!
Fury UK is and will always be one of the best Hard Rock bands going. With some more promotion and another killer album on the table, we could soon see great things from this small Manchester band.
