Brian Robertson has worked with two of Hard Rock’s biggest names. From the catchy Irish rock from
Thin Lizzy, to the trauma and manic of the mighty Motorhead, Brian Robertson has been able to share his guitar wizardry with many audiences across the world. Now in 2011 we are given the god of all solo albums, the sweetest cherry of the bunch, in which Brian Robertson shows off his guitar playing, song writing skills and amazingly talented vocals. Look out world because one of rock’s most beautiful masterpieces has just landed!
You can definitely see that Diamonds and Dirt has taken a more
Thin Lizzy rather than Motorhead approach to it. The choppy, bouncy guitar riffs flying from Robertson’s Les Paul is exactly what you could find on an album like Fighting or Jailbreak. Where the much calmer vocals that Phil Lynott was not really able to do gives a smoother, calmer and different feel to the album. In some way, it is quite surprising that Brian Robertson decided not to incorporate the Motorhead vibe and anarchy into his music, as he always seemed like the kind of rebel in both bands! Ah well,
Thin Lizzy sounding is better than nothing.
What will make your jaw drop is just how amazing of a singer Brian Robertson actually is! The lyrics have so much meaning and are powerful as it is but when you have Robertson singing is heart out on tracks like: “Diamonds and Dirt”, “Do It Till We Drop” and “Passion” it makes you think.... ‘Maybe this guy should have done bit of singing in
Thin Lizzy’. As well as being an awesome singer and guitar player, you will also be shocked to find out he did the keyboard parts as well. Jesus, just how talented it this guy!
Diamonds and Dirt has only just come out this May, but seriously dude. Hurry the fuck up and release another album. If it as killer and catchy as this one you are bound to get more recognized outside being known as ‘That
Thin Lizzy and Motorhead guitar dude’.
With 13 of the best classic tracks you will have heard in a long time and a cover of “Running Back” b
