The Day the Angels Died review

Babylon Fire - The Day the Angels Died (EP (Maxi))

The Day the Angels Died

I always get pleasure reviewing CD’s from less know bands, and in Babylon Fire’s case I was extremely pleased with what I heard! With some of the best sounding guitar riffs you will have heard in ages and an extremely aggressive voice which will punch a hole in your face with every note, you will be begging for a full album once this EP is over. Enjoy the metal and bang your fucking head!

The Day the Angels Died is exactly how a metal EP should be written and recorded. No nonsense cut the bull shit, straight up heavy metal! Not only being a well written EP, but also a well recorded and mastered EP showing that even though Babylon Fire are a small Manchester band, they are far better at producing a metal EP than most metal bands going at the moment. Tracks like “Freight Train” are an amazing example of just how this band ‘Do it properly’! All the solo lines are at the correct volume to complement each other and the sound is so clear and powerful! Excellent!

There are only four songs on this EP but by god they are all awesome! To start with; the guitar parts really get you pumped and are excellent to mosh to. Not one sound like another and you will enjoy just how crushing these riffs actually are. When you get past this collection of well written shoring dual leads – you hit a Drowning Pool/Godsmack sounding vocal line which is not only a very metal style but also very talented, which ranges from the: High to Low, Soft to Growly! It’s just one insane try at a metal EP and by God have Babylon Fire got it right with The Day the Angels Died.

If you think this album awesome then you would be making an understatement. This has to be one of the best alternative metal EP’s to be released in the 21st century. Tracks like “Strength” and “Freedom” are definite album pieces getting the listener to sing a long after one release – and banging their heads violently to the music. Now, Babylon Fire..... Get a bloody move on and make a full length album!

If you think these songs are amazing on album, then you should definitely check them out live as well. Then you will be able to say ‘They are genuine’ as they can really fucking play! Bring on their support slot with Pagan’s Mind in two weeks because they are going to slay.
