Rip it, Burn it review

7 Days Before - Rip it, Burn it (EP (Maxi))

Rip it, Burn it

When you put Rage Against The Machine as your biggest influence, you have a lot, and I mean a lot to live up to. Thankfully 7 Days Before know how to pack all that aggression and power onto an album, that would even put the mighty RATM to shame. Unlike a lot of the auto tuned ‘rap core’ and ‘hip-hop’ you hear in the century – 7 Days Before can really slay when playing these songs and are a shining example of how to be a proper French metal band.

Rip it, Burn it; is seven no bull shit, kick ass metalcore tunes with an insane rap/hip-hop style vocal line sung magnificently over the top. Now, many of you true metal heads out there will be saying.... “Rap isn’t metal!”How right you are. But this diversity and angst really puts metal into a whole new level of brutal! Tracks like the crushing “Rip it, Burn it” and the foot stomping “No Defense” not only blow the listeners brains in with a mash of crazy sounding riffs, but also shows a very talented Fred Durst like MC line over the top which will get any listener hardcore dancing or even body popping to the songs. Banging or what, inn’it!

Even though 7 Days Before many only be some tiny French metal band. They have the musical capability to be pretty big. This entire album is meant to be played live and on a big stage to a hell of a lot of people. The pure thrill crowds will get when songs like “Silence a Solution” and “Guillotine” is definitely achievable. The riffs are killer, vocals insane and the bass and rum section is always on top form. 7 Days Before where always meant to be a live band.

As this is only a start to 7 Days Before’s journey into the big wide world of metal, you can definitely give them credit for releasing a killer first album. In most cases like this, they have hit the ground running and that is what you exactly need to do if you want to do this properly. Make an impression from the word go, and so they have.

So watch out Rage Against The Machine because if you stumble across these dudes in an alleyway, they will no doubt tie you up and steel your crown for best rap metal band going. Plus it’s available to download for free on their band camp page. So go get it NOW because Rip it, Burn it is sick blad!
